On our trip to Chicago, we spent a lot of time at Navy Pier, mostly because there is so much to do. There is dining, shops, boat rides, shows, carnival rides, fireworks, and more. Here's a little bit of what we did on the pier...

When in Chicago, you must ride the ferris wheel. The views are spectacular.

If you need to cool off, a speed boat ride will do the trick...

... just don't expect to stay dry.

Take a walk to the end of the pier.

The John Hancock Building all dressed up for the 4th of July.

What a perfect way to end the day.
Tomorrow, I've got some great Chicago treats and eats lined up, so be sure to bring a fork and your appetite.

ha, the seadog looks like a blast! those views are incredible - i need to visit soon! i've got my fork and napkin....ready for tomorrow's foodie line up!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! A napkin is a great idea. Chicago-style comfort food can get pretty messy, but it's better that way for sure. :)
DeleteWellp, this officially makes me want to go to chicago. That ferris wheel! That lighthouse! Amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good time for sure. Hope you get the chance to visit. :)
DeleteThis really looks like an amazing time! I've always wanted to visit Chicago and maybe one day I will!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashlee! We had a blast! You'll love it if you get the chance to go.
Deletei have some family that lives really close to chicago and when i was driving across the country we stopped in there, it really is such a neat city one of these days i need to explore it in its entirety!

You should definitely take some more time to explore the city. There is so much to see and do! The nice thing is that since you have family in the area, you can just see a little bit of the city each time you visit. :)
DeleteWow that place looks beautiful! It makes me want to go to Chicago (sigh).
ReplyDeleteYou won't be dissapointed if you get a chance to make the trip.
DeleteBy the way, I'm loving your new blog re-design. :)
Haha, thank you for your comment!
ReplyDeleteLovely post as well!

Glad you liked seeing a little bit of Chi-town :)
DeleteYour pictures are fabulous, Erica! I have never been to Chicago but hopefully I will visit it someday!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is gorgeous, I am a new follower!
Hi Katrin! Thanks for stopping by. I'm sure you'll love Chicago if you get the chance to visit.
DeleteI enjoyed your personal post on the blog. I love that you can just bare your soul like that. :)
Your pictures make me really really really want to go back- and do all the stuff I didn't get to do the first time!
ReplyDeleteI'm already wanting to go back too. So many sights left unseen. So many hotdogs uneaten... lol! :)
DeleteI love fireworks! That boat ride must be AWESOME!

It. was. awesome. We had a blast (and got wet enough to prove it)! :)
DeleteIt's been a while since I've been to Chicago - but your photographs are definitely making me put it on our travel list! Looks like you were having a blast!!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a fun city :)
Deletep.s I replied to your spinach question on the detox post (you can barely taste it!) xo
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I like spinach, but I was never quite sure how I'd like it in smoothie form. lol. Since you can barely taste it, I'm gonna have to give it a try. My favorite thing about your 'green' smoothie is that it isn't that yucky green color that most green smooties get... much less intimidating that way. :)
DeleteHow special to get to see fireworks while traveling!
ReplyDeleteI also love your navy cardi :)
Can't beat fireworks :)
DeleteBy the way, I loved your Japanese Ice Ouca post (they don't have THAT in Chicago, that's for sure). I mean, tomato and asparagus soft-serve flavors?? Wild! :)
i do wish i could ride a ferris wheel but i have an irrational fear of heights. i hope i could get a US visa, i want to travel to the US someday! :-)
ReplyDeleteA fear of heights would make a ferris wheel a bit scary. Wouldn't blame you one bit for skipping that ride.
Deleteokay, that lighthouse is absolutely beautiful! this all looks like so much fun!!!

I adore lighthouses. So rustic and filled with history.
DeleteWe had a blast and can't wait to go back someday. :)
I just missed Chicago again...loved Navy Pier and the ferris wheel - we did that in the evening after sunset so I only saw the blinking red light of the lighthouse. Felt awesome to look at the tall, lit up skyscrapers from the ferris wheel.
