Wannabe.

I've always gravitated to the arts, even though I've never considered myself an artist. I'm kind of a wannabe artist, I guess.  Right now, I'm dabbling in painting.  I tried acrylic paints for months, but today I decided to switch to oil paints for the first time.  I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out....

Right now, I'm taking my inspiration from other artists I admire while I work to find a style of my own. Today, I was inspired by the amazing artist, Lulie Wallace, who creates fantastic geometric floral paintings in bright, unexpected color combinations.  It was a lot of fun to experiment with loud colors and abstract florals.

My goal is to eventually create a piece of art I love enough to hang proudly on my bare dining room wall.  As for where I'm going to put my finished 'masterpiece' ...

Alright, I've got to go ... it looks like Patrick wants to play a game of fetch.  :)

    1. Thanks! Painting has been a fun hobby.

As for Patrick, that is his "Mom, I'm so bored throw me a freakin' ball already" look. Classic. :)

  3. How cute and fun. I love the colors! Don't be too modest, if you make art, you're an artist.
So glad to have found your blog, can't believe I hadn't sooner.

  5. Wannabe?! Girl, you rock at this! I did some paintings in highschool but eventually gave up on it - don't really know why, I'd love love to have my own paintings in the dining room.

  8. I love that painting and the colors, you're good! I want to eventually make some paintings for our house too, but I'm waiting till we make our big move next year.

That's good to know about the acrylic vs. oil paints, I was going to get oil for my boys but figured watercolor would be better to start with since they're younger.

Btw, here's a link for the table easel I have:
